Support the Photometric Light Lab: Order a Prophesee Camera for Mental Health Research
We are launching a campaign to purchase a unique neuromorphic camera — Prophesee EVK4 HD. It costs $5,700 (€5,000), and it is a key tool for achieving a major scientific and technological breakthrough in our project.
What exactly are we researching, and why do we need this camera?
Our team is developing a research-based service and application called “Embodied Gestalt Navigator”. We are studying the fundamental connection between the physics of light, the nervous system, and human mental health.
- Peripersonal Space (PPS): Every human being has a so-called “safety zone” around their body (40-50 cm). We are testing a scientific hypothesis that this zone neurophysiologically aligns with how our skin and body reflect and refract the surrounding light.
- Training Our AI: We are creating algorithms that will help individuals objectively evaluate their mental state and stress levels in exact numbers and graphs by analyzing the light field around them.
- Why isn’t a standard iPhone suitable? Smartphones artificially “enhance” images (altering focus, smoothing noise, touching up colors). As a result, real physical light data is lost, making it impossible to train AI on such distorted metrics — we need pure, unfiltered physics of light.
What can the Prophesee EVK4 HD camera do?
This camera operates not like a conventional camera, but like the human eye. There are no traditional frames — each pixel on its sensor tracks light independently and responds instantly to the slightest changes.
In simple terms:

- It is ultra-fast: Captures microsecond-level changes in light and body reactions (100 times faster than high-speed cameras).
- Does not get blinded by bright light: Works effortlessly in deep shadows as well as intense, blinding glares.
- Provides clean data for AI: Feeds a raw mathematical stream of light changes into our software without artificial retouching.
The total campaign goal, including taxes and logistics, is $7,296 (€6,400)
Where will the funds go?
$5,700 — the camera itself, a specialized lens, tripod, cables, and professional software from the manufacturer (€5,000)
$1,026 — customs duty and VAT (18% of equipment cost, €900)
$399 — official delivery from France and valuable cargo insurance (€350)
$171 — payment system transaction fees (€150)
The equipment will be delivered directly from the developers in Paris. Once paid, the camera will arrive at our lab within 12 days!
