Support the Photometric Light Lab: A Computer for Processing Data from the Prophesee Camera
We are launching a campaign to purchase a Lenovo V15 G5 research laptop costing $766.
This computer is an essential part of our research setup. Without it, we cannot fully operate the Prophesee EVK4 HD camera, record its signals, or conduct our planned photometric experiments.
What exactly are we researching, and why do we need this computer?
The team at Inclusive Practices | Research & Innovation Center is developing a research-based service and application called the Mental Health Embodied Navigator. We are studying the fundamental connection between the physics of light, the nervous system, and human mental health.
- Peripersonal Space: We study the area surrounding the body that contributes to our perception of safety, movement, and the external environment.
- Photometric Experiments: The Prophesee camera will record minute changes in the light field around a person.
- Algorithm Development: The computer will allow us to record, process, and compare the resulting data, providing a research foundation for the Mental Health Embodied Navigator.
- Why can’t we use just any computer? The camera transmits a continuous stream of event-based data through a high-speed USB interface. Reliable recording and processing require a compatible processor, sufficient memory, fast SSD storage, and a SuperSpeed USB port.
What will the Lenovo V15 G5 allow us to do?
The selected model is equipped with an Intel Core i5-13420H processor, 16 GB of DDR5 memory, a 512 GB SSD, and high-speed USB ports.
We deliberately chose not to purchase an expensive premium or gaming laptop. The Lenovo V15 G5 provides the performance required for the current stage of our research without unnecessary additional costs.
In simple terms:
- Receive camera signals: The computer will receive a continuous stream of event-based data through SuperSpeed USB.
- Record experiments: We will be able to save data collected during different movements, human states, and lighting conditions.
- Analyze results: Specialized software will allow us to visualize and compare changes in the light field.
- Prepare data for algorithms: These recordings will provide the foundation for developing and evaluating the Mental Health Embodied Navigator.

Where will the funds go?
$766 — a Lenovo V15 G5 laptop with an Intel Core i5-13420H processor, 16 GB of memory, and a 512 GB SSD.
The laptop is currently available from a Georgian supplier. Once payment is completed, the estimated delivery time is two to five business days.
Why is this crucial for our project?
The camera allows us to record physical changes in light that conventional video equipment cannot capture. The computer will allow us to transform these signals into data that can be used for research.
It will enable us to:
- Connect and configure the Prophesee EVK4 HD camera.
- Begin systematically recording photometric experiments.
- Process and compare the collected data.
- Prepare research materials for algorithm development.
- Publish demonstrations and interim research results.
